Essence Statement
Through movement, sound and image The Arts transform people’s creative ideas into expressive works. They are a powerful form of expression that, recognise value and contribute to the multicultural character of New Zealand.

The Arts At Kokopu School
Children’s creative action and response will be stimulated by engaging, thinking, imagination, senses and feeling. Children will express and interpret ideas within creative, aesthetic and technological frameworks increasing their confidence to take risks. They are able to enjoy the arts throughout their lives.

Identify the student needs (through sound teaching practice) and endeavour to meet these needs through a differential learning programme.
Identify learning intentions, discuss and promote knowledge skills being developed.
Plan units with appropriate/specific success criteria and learning outcomes.
Reflect and review outcomes form previous programmes/levels and provide progressions of learning opportunities
Provide an opportunity to learn guitar Years 4-8
Stage an annual whole school production
